Elastolytic-sensitive 3D-printed chitosan scaffold for wound healing applications

The combination of a chitosan 3D-printed scaffold with hydrogel matrix containing an elastin-like polypeptide functionalized the epidermal growth factor (HEGF) was evaluated as possible strategy to obtain bioactive platform stimuli-responsive properties. We designed chitosan/HEGF hybrid and examined physico-chemical properties in vitro behavior when contact simulated biological fluids. Primary human dermal fibroblasts (hDFs) were used test cytocompatibility. Overall, these data provide first insights into integration HEGF-based scaffolds, contributing towards rational design new smart functional wound dressing.
